Biscuits just celebrated her 1 yr birthday and is a total angel!! She is so unique looking with white with tabby markings and a black and grey striped tail. She is beautiful and sweet. Biscuits had a pretty rough start. She was found in a local neighborhood very thin, very dirty, and very pregnant. It was discovered right away that she was chipped and therefore LOCRA could trace her origins. She was from TEXAS! We don’t know how she made her way to Michigan. Her former adopters were not very nice when we contacted them.. they denied they ever adopted a kitten. When Biscuits came to her foster mom’s home she was in bad shape. She only weighed 6lbs (heavily pregnant with 5 kittens), she had an upper respiratory infection, an eye infection, and wound on her back paw. She had also been wearing a collar that had rubbed her neck fur completely off. But it was the unseen wounds that were the most traumatic. Biscuits was afraid of hands and would flinch when her foster mom tried to touch her. She was very protective of her paws, not wanting them to be touched or handled in any way. This type of behavior is indicative of a cat who has probably suffered some kind of abuse . With a gentle touch and a quiet manner Biscuits’ foster mom was able to gain her trust and love very quickly. They worked on desensitizing her to being touched on her paws (she still doesn’t love her back paws being touched but she’s come a long way). And she learned that pets were a good thing. She now loves being pet and stritched as long as it comes from under her chin, on her back, along her tail, or even her belly. Any hands coming towards her face or the top of her head are still scary. Biscuits gave birth to 5 extremely healthy babies and has been an incredible mama. She loves people and other cats. She's cautious around dogs and curious about little kids. She has spent time on the streets so she’s a scavenger and enjoys people food. She’s still very much a kitten and loves to play and explore. Biscuits would do well with a calm home with pet parents who would keep her past in mind and be conscious of her possible triggers, taking care to not cause her any more fear. All of our cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, microchipped, tested for FIV/FELV , and up to date on vaccinations including rabies, distemper, and de-wormer.
