Domestic Short Hair / Ocicat / Mixed (short coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Small
Ophelia came to us through a nice couple who took her in from the cold. She has no front claws and her left eye was badly damaged probably due to an infection that was left untreated. After receiving some vet care for fleas and ticks, and getting a rabies shot, the couple called us for rescue. It was determined that she had been abandoned, and left to fend for herself for at least a month before these kind folks helped her. One of our volunteer/fosters went the next day to pick her up and immediately had her seen by one of our veterinary doctors. She was a mess! Weighing in at just under 7 pounds, she was skin and bones. To add to her woes, due to the flea, tick, and possibly mite bites she was miserable with itchy skin. But, that was then and this is now. After having her infected eye removed, and all but 3 teeth removed to due periodontal infections, this little girl is shining. She is so beautiful and lovable that you would not even know the pain she’s been through. She is only very vocal when she is demanding to be fed. In the evenings she enjoys snuggling up to her foster mom for some petting time. She is in a foster home with dog and cats and pretty much ignores them. Every now and then she and one of the foster’s cats have “words”, but overall they get along as long as everyone respects each other. Slow introductions are always recommended when bringing in a new furry family member. Remember, even canines and felines can get jealous if they feel you are spending too much time on the “new” guy." You can view some of our adoptable cats and kittens at the Commerce Petsmart on the west side of Haggerty Road just north of 14 mile Road during store hours.
